Bike of the Week 17: 2011 Cannondale Trail SL 29′er 4

$720… that’s it. It seems as though for 2011 the “29′er tax” is gone. Cannondale makes a 26″ wheeled equivalent to this model, so there is actually a comparable choice at the same price! I’ve discussed the pros and cons of 29′ers in previous posts but here’s where the facts come in. Cannondale has put together a remarkable big wheel bike that will be a great alternative to first time mountain bikers, or first time 29′er-ers (that’s the technical term). The Trail SL frame is equipped with Cannondale’s fantastic SAVE technology to smooth out bumps without sacrificing efficiency. The Cannondale-designed RST Deuce fork is equipped with lockout for climbing or road riding. Shimano Alivio shifting and Promax disc brakes take care of the rest. What a great value! We have all sizes available in silver, the green ones should be arriving shortly.

Our silver extra large bike weighed in with pedals and reflectors at 31.34 pounds. Now the weight penalty is gone too… come pick up your new bike, it’s here.

Now the vain reason we love this bike… the second color option is lime green.
