Free Spring Clinic Series!

We’re excited to present our Spring Clinic Series for 2011. Our clinic series is great for new and beginning riders as well as experienced riders looking to improve their mechanical skills and knowledge.
Our series will be at Infinite Cycles on Wednesday nights this month at 7pm and will last around 45 minutes each night. Please RSVP at the bottom of this page so we can make accommodations for you.

May 11 – Flat Repair + Safety Inspection

If you ride bikes, this is an important part of riding and keeping safe. everyone will encounter a flat tire sometime, whether your own or someone else that needs help. The safety inspection covers things you need to notice on your bike before you go for a ride. It becomes second nature after a while, we will show you those things to look for.

Topics covered will include the following:

  • Finding the cause of a flat tire
  • Inner tube removal and installation
  • Flat prevention best practices
  • Tools and supplies to carry with you when you ride
  • Proper wheel installation
  • Headset and hub tightness
  • Seatpost, stem, and handlebar tightness
  • Tire pressure
  • Brakes functioning and pads ok

May 18 – Bike Washing

Every bike will get filthy many times throughout its lifetime. Are you the person that lets it sit dirty and slowly die, or are you going to come learn how to properly and easily clean your bike so it keeps working for years to come?

  • Topics we’ll cover include:
  • Supplies needed to deep clean a bike
  • Best tricks to remove the worst grime
  • Properly drying to prevent rust and corrosion
  • How to degrease and lube drivetrain and related components

May 25 – Suspension Technology and Setup

Listen up mountain bikers, do you want to go faster easier? Let your suspension work for you! At this technical clinic, we’ll teach you what all those levers, knobs, dials, and buttons do on your front and rear suspension. A properly tuned suspension really makes your ride easier and give you more control and confidence on the trail. These universal principles apply to all types of bicycle suspension from any manufacturer, any design, and from any point in the past or (foreseeable) future of bicycle suspension. This will be the most technical clinic of the series.

Topics covered will include the following:

  • Truth and myths of suspension
  • Different styles of suspension
  • Explanation of hydraulic damping systems
  • Setting air pressure or spring preload and sag
  • Lockout and compression adjustments
  • Rebound settings and uses
  • Travel height adjustment
  • Intended uses and setup preferences
  • Suspension maintenance schedule
  • Frame pivot maintenance
  • Basic troubleshooting

June 1 – Quick Tune

The Infinite Cycles Quick Tune is our most basic tune up, we want to show you how to do it yourself. When your bike is running just a little rough on shifting or the brakes are a little soft, a quick tune is all you really need. This is necessary for new bikes that are breaking in, and also for bikes that have been sitting over the winter. Topics covered will include the following:

  • Rim and mechanical disc brake cable tension
  • Disc brake caliper adjustment
  • Rim brake spring adjustment
  • Front derailleur positioning
  • Derailleur limit screws
  • Derailleur cable tension
  • Basic brake and shifting troubleshooting

On these nights, accessories related to the topic will be available for purchase at 20% off to help you begin your own maintenance at home.
