Limited Production Cannondale Scalpel 29′er ULTIMATE! Weighs just 21.6 pounds

Cannondale announced just this morning that they will be making a limited production Scalpel 29′er Carbon ULTIMATE! Only 125 will be available in the United States. They will be taking preorders and as you can imagine, they will sell out fast. With an anticipated out-of-the-box weight of 21.6 pounds for a fully capable full-suspension 29′er w/ matched 100mm travel, this is the lightest production bike in its class. This is truly the Ultimate mountain bike.

Price tag: $10,000

If you’re serious about ordering one of these rare bikes, you’ll need to make up your mind quickly and come down with a deposit as soon as possible.

In order to achieve this exceptional weight, product manager Johs Huseby selected the following components; Cannondale’s own Lefty Carbon 29′er XLR matched with the unique adjustable OPI stem/steerer and our Si Hollowgram SL crank. To complement this selection and following components were chosen; Enve Composite rims and handlebars, the flawless Shimano XTR drive train as well as XTR brakes, a Fizik Tundra 2 00 seat paired with the Cyrano carbon seat post and the brand new Schwalbe Racing Ralph 29×2.1 offering lighter weight and improved treade.

Lastly the new Fox RP23 with Adaptive Logic was chosen due to its excellent responsiveness and pedaling efficiency. The subtle lightweight paint scheme shed some extra grams and underlines our focus to reduce weight as much as possible on the frame.

We will offer this bike with two chain ring options. The Scalpel 29′er Ultimate will be equipped with a 39/26T double chain ring, and a 36T single ring plus MRP guide will be supplied additionally for those willing to go for a single chain ring.

The Scalpel 29′er Ultimate was presented to the public during the last Eurobike show and consequently raised significant interest from visitors.
